Bungendore
Client Objectives
The owners wanted to bring this much-loved heritage hotel back to life as a working pub — a venue able to trade day-to-day, host functions throughout the year, and offer accommodation upstairs. The brief was to honour the building’s original charm and history while meeting the current commercial standards a modern hospitality venue demands.
Scope of Work
This refurbishment touched the whole building, with major works to the foundations, structure, facade and every interior space, alongside verandah restoration, a new bar, refreshed bathrooms and common areas. Each element had to balance heritage character against contemporary compliance and the practical demands of a busy commercial venue.
Achievements
The greatest challenge — and achievement — was coordinating works in and around a building first constructed in the late 1800s. Every intervention had to respect original fabric while integrating modern services, structure and compliance, and the team delivered it with a considered, strategic approach that kept the transformation smooth from start to finish.
This project was also a finalist in the 2024 Australian Hospitality Awards for refurbishment of the year.
